More Led Zeppelin Search Fun
If you tuned in last time, you found out I’d never heard of Led Zeppelin. Evidentially some one got the message since I snagged Mothership from Santa (for the record, I own all the studio releases, but have to say the re-mastering on this release is great). The other day, I noticed now the US knows I’ve Never Heard of Led Zeppelin (I’m #1 for that term on the US Google now).
But today, I found out I rank pretty high for “led zeppelin digital box set is a complete joke” since someone showed up here after searching for that…
Yeah, I’m confused too. Maybe I should start selling ad space so Led Zeppelin can reach those who’ve never heard of them and those who might think their box set is a joke. I can see it now! I’ll need a wheelbarrow to take my cash to the bank!

Evidentially, I’ve Never Heard of Led Zeppelin
Quick exercise for you, dear reader. Go to the UK Google:
Enter, "i’ve never heard of led zeppelin" and hit "I’m feeling lucky." I’ll wait for you to get back.
Short trip, right? Like a good narcissistic blogger, I was looking through my referral logs and saw a weird hit from Google UK. Evidentially the Brits don’t think I’ve heard of Led Zeppelin.

Colossally Clueless
Two images to show this retailer has no clue:
The first was on Gothamist this past weekend:
The second was posted on Seth Godin’s blog yesterday:
Judging by the signage, this is the same store which Gothamist says is one of the Balducci’s. I’m not Jewish, but even I know that pork isn’t exactly going to sell very well during Chanukah.

At Least I’m Faster the Katie Holmes
I’m not usually one for the gossip crap that pervades the interwebs, but from Runners World’s Daily Views blog, the news from the NYC Marathon is Katie Holmes ran it in 5:29. Having finished Grand Rapids in 5:27, at least I’m faster. Thing that I noted in this picture that had no photo credit is she is wearing headphones, which are usually prohibited in Marathons (according to the race director of the Grand Rapids Marathon, its part of the USATF sanctioning).
Congrats to all the finishers in NYC, including MS. Holmes!

How Halo will take over the World
It’s official. I am out of the world of Microsoft. This was confirmed by the fact that I had no clue Halo 3 launched yesterday until a coworker mentioned he was heading to Best Buy to pick up a copy. His response, “What, have you been living under a rock? Mountain Dew made special cans for it - how do you not know?”
My XBox 360 basically collects dust in our media cabinet. I think the last game I played on it was Zuma (yeah, I’m that lame.) Even so, this video from the future is pretty funny.
I love the part that states the J. Allard’s first action as the future President is to rename the Grand Canyon “Blood Gulch.”
I’ll probably end up getting a copy eventually, the past games were a lot of fun to play and the story line is decent. Plus I’ve got two friends bugging me to get it some we could do cooperative play online. The biggest challenge is time. With kids that are five and one, my only time to play is after they’re asleep which is also my only time to read/watch tv/actually get stuff done around the house.

Super Mario Theme
I don’t know why I always find the Super Mario Theme amusing when played outside of the video game itself - like on guitar or piano. I didn’t even own a Nintendo Game System growing up (though I did have an Atari 2600). This one takes the cake. The Super Mario theme played on Tesla coils:

Could Skeletor Be Far Behind?
As previously mentioned, I’ve been plowing through the inbox after vacation in between fits of actual work productivity. This one made me chuckle - some dude in Washing actually changed his middle name to Megatron.
I don’t think Derek Soundwave Dysart has the right ring to it. Besides, I think most of my family, immediate and extended would disown me.

More Mike Rowe QVC Goodness
I don’t know what’s scarier, Mike Rowe’s crush on Arial, or that someone actually recorded this on their VCR back in the early 90’s.
Their foresight is our gain.

Mike Rowe, before Ford, before Discovery Channel
Before he started doing the Ford Truck commercials and before the various shows on the Discover Channel, Mike Rowe was an on-air personality on QVC. A buddy passed on a link to some old footage from Mike’s QVC days where he still has the same sense of humor.
