I'm pretty sure I was able to do most of the layout changes in CSS (I changed the PHP to customize the right menu a bit). Take a look at the CSS for the site, but I think I changed the widths of #content and #content_inner, and hid #left_bar. It’s surprising how fast you forget things like this.
